 Nickia

My husbandNickia.jpg and I were given Nickia at 12 weeks old and 20 pounds.  She was around before our 3 children, so she was our first “Baby”.  My daughters first words were Cia-Cia.  Nici was our stubborn protector and gigantic sweet lap dog.  We have loads of great memories!  She is in heaven now with some of her friends that passed before her Max, our German Shepherd, and Sally-Lucy, our Beta Fish.  We miss her nose prints on the door and all her fuzzy bear hair.  Her love will be in our hearts forever! We know God is enjoying her now! Thanks to all the great care takers at All Creatures!  The Hittinger Family

Zappa

littleDoggie.JPGThis is my tribute to my beautiful companion and best buddy of 15 ½ years Zappa. We got Zappa from the Clermont County Shelter back in ’94 as a small pup. Little did I know he would grow up to be such a large and affectionate doggie. Zappa was such a joy to be around with. He could run like the wind, majestically navigating any obstacle with such grace. After my marriage collapsed, Zappa was a source of comfort and reassurance in an uncertain world. During these past ten years Zappa was my inspiration to keep going forward and keep me focused on the tasks at hand. We did just about everything together. His favorite (and mine) place to hike was Mt.Airy Forrest. There isn’t a trail there we did not walk. I will always treasure his happiness anytime I would mention “lets go bye, bye” As he grew older our walking distances decreased, but he enjoyed them no less. On my radio show-The Latino Hour on WDBZ, Zappa was often a topic of conversation. I often related to our listeners our many hiking adventures. Each day with him was such a blessing and the pain in my heart is at times unbearable. But I take comfort in so many wonderful memories I shared with him over the years. I miss my Zappa every day and pray that I will be reunited with him in the afterlife someday. Until then he will always be in my thoughts and in my broken heart. May God bless and keep you “little doggie”  Love you always.

 Munny

Copy_of_Picture1.pngMy beautiful, much loved house rabbit Munny died peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2009 (the white one with brown spots, his bonded partner Madison is the brown Rex rabbit, who misses him as well) – I adopted Munny when he was only about 10 weeks old (my family is allergic to cats and dogs and I grew up on a farm – so I definitely wanted a pet).  He was a Mini Rex Rabbit and full of life, running around the house and chewing on cords and wood, which we promptly covered and instead purchased metal balls and cardboard boxes – when I would leave in the morning for work he was eating his breakfast of hay, when I returned he had all his metal balls stacked up in the water bowl – this happened almost every day, something I will miss.  We had Munny (aka Tink) in our lives and in our hearts for 10 years and he will never be forgotten – Rest in Peace Little Man.

Love Always,
Ed, Suzanne, Jake, Kelly, Madison and friends

Angel

In 1994 we found a little puppy in our family's apartment complex that had been abandoned by it's owners because they moved.  We took to our house in the country with a big fenced in yard and named her Angel.  We took her on vacation with us and to family functions, she was a part of our family.  Angel would wait outside until everyone got home at night before she would turn in.  She protected our family and was the best companion during the hardest of times.  She had the best life a dog could have when she died at the age of 14 from Kidney Disease.  Everyone at All Creatures took wonderful care of her, it was just her time to go.  We miss her and love her so much.  Angel will always be in our hearts!

If my parents ever decide to get another dog, they will definitely be bringing it to you for any medical attention it might need. Thank you so much for everything, again.  We appreciate everything you did to help us.

Noah
Many of our long time clients may remember our first Office cat named Noah. He was a plain little tiger striped kitten that came from the local animal shelter. Our intention at that time was to neuter, vaccinate and find homes for one litter of noah.jpgkittens at a time. Noah's litter was sick, and he was the only one that survived. He was named Noah and stayed as our office cat. After a couple of years, he decided he wanted to go outside. Nothing we could do would keep him indoors. Pam then took him home for "the weekend" and he never left. Noah's personality remained the same. He loved to be outside but also loved to sit with you or sleep with anyone. Noah was the first adoption cat. Since 1992 thousands of kittens and cats have been saved as a result. Noah had to be euthanized last week at the age of 17 years because of kidney disease. He will be greatly missed by his family.

June Bug

We lost our Miniature Pinscher, Junebug, this May 25.  He was 5 years
old.  He suffered from seizures which have gotten more severe over
time.  We got him from Indiana when our son was 2 years old andjunebug.jpg
Junebug was about 8 weeks old. Junebug's very best friend was Cap'n Jack, our 9 year old tomcat. He was an energetic, intelligent and very lovable member of our family.  We all miss him very much.

Bear Doll

Hi,

Bear was our 13 year old Rottweiler. We lost him in June, 2008, to heart failure. He was a beautiful, smart companion to all of us. Bear was not a patient of All Creatures but about a year before he passed we adopted our female Doberman Chloe (Baby) from SWODR, who brings all their dogs to All Creatures. (We have alsomem1.jpg attended Karen's training classes there.) Chloe was good for Bear, and brought out a playfulness in him that we had not seen in years. We believe that he had a wonderful life, full of love, attention, and affection. We miss him so much and want to thank All Creatures for setting up a Memorial page so that our best buddies can be recognized for their love and devotion.

Freeway Peluso

To the staff at All Creatures Animal Hospital,

Thank you so much for the kindness and caring you showed toward my baby (Freeway). She loved each and every one of you! She loved to go to All Creatures and be groomed just so she could come home and prance around the house with the bows in her hair. My baby is now in a better place, free from her cancer and her mem3.jpgarthritis. She lived a long and very happy life for 15 years with us. She was born on August 11, 1993 and was put to sleep on March 11, 2009. She will forever be in our hearts and will never be forgotten. She was my heart and my baby until we meet again at the Rainbow Bridge Mommy loves you.

God Bless you
Thank you all again
Shelia-Paul Peluso

Mintaka Stephenson

Dear All Creatures Staff,
Bernese Mountain Dogs are the "poster children" for a particularly nasty cancer called Malignant Histiocytosis. It kills 1 in 4 berners. So when our little Mintaka became very ill at only 18 months old, we suspected the worst. Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement and excellent supportive care as we helped her maintain the best quality of life possible for as long as possible. Losing our littlemem4.jpg girl at only 22 months of age was heartbreaking, but berner lovers know it is one price we sometimes pay for sharing our lives with this wonderful breed. Thanks again for helping us and her, and for the extra effort it took to collect the many pathology samples needed for the university scientists working on this cancer. We recently heard that progress is being made to isolate the genes predisposing berners (and people) to this cancer.

sincerely,
Carol & Mark Stephenson

Gizmo DeTellem

We had Gizmo for 13 years and he was the best cat, never tore up any furniture & did his business outside, no litter box. We noticed a couple of months ago that hemem6.jpg just about quit eating, nothing we did helped. Will always remember him, he was beautiful in the summer time, we would get him the lyon cut & he had that long chest hair. There will be no other cat that could replace Gizmo.

Snowy Gabbard

Dr. Dan,

Your kindness is greatly appreciated!

Writing to thank you for your excellent care of Snowy these past 16 years. He livedmem7.jpg a long life due to the personal time you spent with him. I truly miss him and am glad we chose you for his care.

Lacey Allgeier
To the Vets and Staff at All Creatures:

Thank you for the kindness you showed to us and Lacey during her life time. We brought Lacey to All Creatures after we moved to Clermont County from mem9.jpgCincinnati. Lacey was born on 7/15/93 and we had her put to sleep on 1/29/09. Lacey was a very good natured, gentle dog. Lacey's spirit will always be in our hearts. We had her cremated and brought her back home to be with us. This is a picture her in her bed on her last day with us and of her memorial.

Thank you all again.

Marco Jenkins
Payton's Place regrets to announce the passing of our alumnus Marco, who was loved and cared for by his adopters, our volunteers Mark and Mandy Jenkins. Marco had a zest for life that all of us loved. He was handsome, exuberant, athletic, a big goof, and a lover of Jolly Balls. He was something of a celebrity as well, as the only dock-diving Doberman on the Cabela's circuit. Dock-diving gave him something to do, but it was no lark. He achieved high placements on a national level as he progressed through the divisions.mem11.jpg

Unfortunately, Marco was also haunted by the demons of his early life; demons that his adoptive mom and dad were never able to completely exorcise. We don't know exactly what his youth was like, or whether there was physical abuse, but his experiences scarred him. When he was afraid, or in pain, or shadowed by who-knows-what imagined threats, he could lash out against those he loved. Finally, Mark & Mandy's efforts were not enough and Marco's deamons got the best of him. They sent Marco over the Rainbow Bridge but of course, he choose to swim across the river instead. The SWODR family hopes that he is at peace.

Barkley & Cookie Roach
It has been a sad year for the Roach household. We began 2008 with our four beloved dogs, Barkley, 12; Cookie, 11; Duffy and Brody, both 6. Barkley was suffering from congestive heart failure and passed away in February. In the spring, Cookie was diagnosed with lymphoma sarcoma. Thanks to Dr. Dan, Dr. Yerovi, and mem13.jpgthe other wonderful staff at All Creatures, she was able to enjoy some quality time in her last months. Her illness became too much for her little body to fight and it gave in shortly before Thanksgiving.

Barkley was a year old when a family gave him to us. We were told he'd be going to the county shelter if they couldn't find another home for him. They just didn't have time for him and he stayed penned up all day. I remember going late at night to pick him up. He was still wet from being bathed, yet he had a great big red bow on his collar. He looked so beautiful!

Cookie was also a year old when I spotted her at a county shelter. She was shivering on the concrete of her kennel floor and her legs were all yellow from being in urine. We introduced her to Barkley and they seemed to like each other, so we took her home. On the ride home she was so bouncy and energized that she jumped up on the ledge of the back window. I can still remember the little "dot" of a dog standing in the middle of our backyard for the first time. It took four baths to finally get her yellow legs white. She gained some weight and she became more like a "PT Cruiser."

Barkley and Cookie were very special and we'll always keep their memories in our hearts. They are missed by their human and animal pack members. We won't forget them and what a joy it was to share their lives with them. We like to think that they are together again and lying side by side on a soft cushy cloud.

Cassie Follmer

To Cassie September 24, 2008 The day arrived, as I knew it would, better never anticipated the great and engulfing sadness I would feel. I lost my dog today. OK, my dog was really my daughter's dog, I just fed, watered, medicated, vetted, and slept with her. Cassie was a rescue from UDF, a man dropping her off on a cold winter day. At just 6 weeks old, we knew we had to keep this helpless baby dog, and took her straight home. She was all of ours. My husband, who adored her as he does all dogs. My son, indifferent about pets, but Cassie was the perfect size (75+ lbs), and temperament for his taste. My Mother, who would swat her away with a flymem14.jpg swatter as a puppy, when she jumped on her, (she was forever hiding if I killed a fly) yet fed her taste buds with hot dogs and cooked ground beef as a "snack", (she never liked dog food after, of course) but would eat absolutely anything she could get her mouth around, including a whole piece of city chicken, skewer and all, snatched from a countertop after dinner one night.

Cassie was a full of boundless energy, black lab mix. Way beyond trainable, she trained us to do her bidding. She was the dog to take anywhere, the park, the school, old folks home, as long as she had attention of people, she never ran off, we never used a leash except to the vet, my beautiful Newfies never able to outrun or outsmart her, she was our alpha female. Cassandra Amanda was her given name from my daughter, and whenever she made did something wrong, or made me angry, I used it. She saw me through the death of my Mother, 2 husbands, 2 divorces, birth of my granddaughters, illnesses, surgeries, and finding my birth Mother, who loved her the best of all my dogs. She knew Mother was ours, and when Mom came in, stayed at her feet each and every time, until the day before she died.

She had lots of lumps throughout the years, all needing to be removed, until 2 months ago, when the lumps became too numerous to count, and Dr. Wendy diagnosed lymphoma. We have great success with chemo lately and we could try it, left an image of my sleek, fast, healthy dog, sick from chemo everyday, being sick at her end. Turns out she was sick anyway, and the hardest was watching her fade drastically each day. Her eyes never leaving mine, we put her to sleep on the kitchen floor, with my friend Pam, giving her a gentle relief from her pain. Cassie was 13. No dog will be missed more, or was as special. Here's to you, Cassie, my sleek, fast, and now healthy again best dog ever.

Your other Mother

Sony

In the summer of 1999 Norma and I rescued 4 pathetic dogs that were dumped in a pound in Northern Ohio by their breeder. Two of these dogs where Shibas that Norma took, and the other two, totally unsocialized and terrified Kai Ken, I will never forget the two dogs hiding in the back seat of the transport car, all you could see was the whites of their eyes, as they cowered and tried to be invisible. I agreed to take these poor creatures back home with me even though I knew I would never be able to place such frightened dogs. Marsha took one of the Kais to work with, mem15.jpgAnd I kept Sony. It took weeks just to be able to touch him and months before he would approach me. I would go out every night and carry him into the house and hold him in my lap in my rocking chair while we watched the news. It took quite some time but finally, Sony learned to trust me.

The next several years we spent working on getting him to trust others. Sony lived in my grooming room in the front of my kennel and everyone who heard his story would stop to pet or talk to him. Many brought him treats, Beth and Pam would bring him cheese burgers etc. Sony finally learned to trust people and would even look forward to visitors. Sony never forgot a friend and would express his affection with love nips to your behind and legs and would dance with joy when his friends came to visit.

I could not begin to count the hours that I spent working with Sony, but never once did I regret a minute of the time.

I spent with him and honestly believe Sony appreciated what I did for him and loved me for it. Over the past few months Sony's health has been failing but even blind and death he would still run to me when I came in doing his little happy dance and still nibble on his friends when they visited.

Sony was one of my first rescues and was the first Kai Ken I ever meet. I will never forget Sony and what he taught me, that no matter what you have been through you CAN learn to love and trust....... Last night Sony passed quietly in his sleep, I found him this AM in his bed, Sony I love you and miss you so much You will never be forgotten.

Ally DeWald
Ally joined our family in November of 2001...she was a very loveable and sweet kittymem16.jpg that loved to rub against our legs, headbutt us and sleep on our pillow at night. She joined her favorite buddy, Shelby in heaven on Friday, November 21st. She leaves behind 3 dogs, Ginger, Abby and Cliffy and 3 cats, Isabelle, Punkin and Lucy. Tom, Sue and all of Ally's "brothers and sisters" miss her dearly.

Fibi Maupinmem18.jpg
Matt Maupin spent alot of time with Fibi, his fluffy Collie mix, and rescued her from the shelter as a young adult. Carolyn Maupin called us at work at 7am, frantic because Fibi could not get up. She was 13 years old and needed to be euthanized. Dr. Dan called the Maupin's with the sad news, and they both came in to be with her when she died. It was so emotional, as Fibi was Carolyn's last link to Matt.
